I have to admit I have been living it up the past few weeks. Last week I met my mom "SusieMom" and headed to a fabulous B&B in Santa Cruz, Inn at Depot Hill. We started doing this years ago when Ken was in crunch season at work. The Inn is near my sister in Laws house, it is a cute victorian place that used to be a train depot. It poured rain on Friday while we made a stop in the mall for something. Everytime we tried to leave there was a whiteout of rain. So we kept shopping for the baby of course! On Sat my cousin Nancy and sister in law Sharon threw Kimi a baby shower! It was fabulous! Ken and I are lucky to have wonderful friends and family helping us welcome our daughter. There were people I had not seen in a long time which made the shower special. The party was at Nancy's house, it is beautiful and too perfect for parties! Thank you to everyone who showered us with love and gifts. Sorry to those who could not make it I missed you . The captions that are missing are for the cute pink fur coat from Susiemom. The awesome hand made quit by Nancy, I might hang it up it is a work of art. The baby phat outfit from Auntie Joyce is perfect for gymboree. Sorry for the photos that were too blurry to publish there were many spectacular gifts you will eventually see them on Kimi. Again, Thank you all for sharing the special day can't wait for everyone to meet Kimberlyn. This is Auntie Sharon with the delicious food Yumm..

Hi everyone the suspence is building, we should have a court date by next week.... so we have been told. Keep your fingers crossed for a speedy judge and rulings. Once we get the rulings we will travel aprox 7 weeks after. Meanwhile life goes on here in SF. this week CPMC RN's are striking so luckily I get a free day off on Thursday and I will be visiting with my mom, I wish it was longer. I just heard on the news that 13 hospitals in SF are on strike they say no services have been affected but at my hospital we have cleared out the floors transfering everyone to our larger campus. I hope they don't close our hospital after this and I still have a job. I met my dad in Carmel last week for a night it was beautiful as usual. We ate lunch at Pebble Beach Lodge overlooking the 18th hole. We walked around Carmel and stayed at Clint Eastwood's Mission Ranch Inn (my dad has great taste!). This photo is taken from the porch of room 38 that overlooks the meadow, sheep, and ocean. October is truly the best month in the bay area so plan to visit us then!
This is the latest care package I sent to Kimi.
As my friend Linda says, "Don't get your knickers in a twist!" to her dog that once ate some knickers. No new news on Kimi, supposedly this is a good sign things in Taiwan courts are going smooth. We still expect to get a travel date by early Nov. and most likely travel around X-Mas. Can you think of a better present!
Sabrina is wondering if Kimi will ever get her she is tired of modeling all the baby cloths and watching her stuffed animals just sit there LOL!
We have some sad news to report, we had to say good by kitty to Miss America, you all knew her as "Littles". We were lucky enough to have her for 1 month shy of 15yrs, she was a special gift from a good friend Paul who also passed away. She would have been Kimi's BFF. We also said good bye to Barry Bonds ....the hope of catching a million dollar home run ball is gone forever. Here we are with Carlos...hoping he won't forget us next season after 3 years in the same seats still asks Ken every time for his ticket especially when hands are full of hot dogs and drinks UGH!!!!! 4th year has gotta be a charm.......look very close...remember his face Carlos.....please!
On a happier note our Bears just beat Oregon 1st. time in 20 yrs. to beat them on the road! Go Cal Bears! In Sept. my family and friends threw us a baby shower to welcome Kimberlyn, it was very special since there were many people I have known most of my life. Thank you all for a great party!

So last week I had a patient with a new born baby boy and a 4yo daughter, when I asked her name I thought she said Kimberlyn. I immediately loved the additional n that gives Kimberly a special touch. My patient had a thick accent and I never could tell if she was saying Kimberly or Kimberlyn. I told kenny about the name and he loved it too. As of now we will be calling our dughter Kimberlyn. Which let's say is better than baby girl, or our cats names Littles and the late Baby.
Yes it has been a while so I have some catching up to do. First we just got some long awaited medical information about Kimi. She is on track with development, currently she is 29.5" tall and weighs 18lbs. she is petite. Our documents arrived in Taiwan on June 25th and hopefully logged into the courts by July 1st. That means it is usually about 4 mos. from that point, we are still guessing to have her by Nov. give or take a month!
I last left off in June since then we have been all over literally. End of June we were with Max, Erich, Derek and Sue for a great weekend in Tahoe. Derek and Sue are from Korea Sue just moved to SF and is getting used to life in USA. Derek works for Hanbitsoft Korea and is working at Ken's company in SF. Sue was kind enough to translate a letter in Chinese writing asking Kimi's care takers to take photos for us to pick up when we get her. She told me her name is pronounced "Sha -Wu" and actually spelled Jiayu. Ken and I love the name and will include this as her middle name Kimberlyn Jiayu Lauren. Jia means bringing beauty into the world . Top photo is Derek and Sue, next is Sue and I @ Lake Tahoe.
Shortly after Tahoe we ventured off to Cabo San Lucas Mexico. It was very hard for Ken to get the time off , it was well needed. He and his partners are working very late nights trying to get HGL ready for release later this year. We spent the 4th of July in Cabo, Our favorite waiter Luchino at the @ Westin free bar made the best nachos and margaritas which made up for the lack of fireworks! We got home and Ken left 4 days later for a whirlwind trip to China! I couldn't change my schedule to join him and our dogs really missed us so I stayed home. I was tempted to go and visit Kimi in Taiwan and afraid I would not come back to SF.
As I promised before I would post photos of Sabrina's puppies they were born March 31st. She had 3 girls and they all went to great homes (L to R Lulamae, Holly-go-lightly, and Eliza Doolittle). Sabrina is fully recovered and has been back home with us since June. The breeder would like to have one more litter next year!
These phots just came in today so I had to post them Kimi is so big now, we sent her 12mos clothes. We were only allowed to send 1 gallon zip lock bag of items and one had to be a baby photo album. I'll post photos of the outfits later. We are buying her size 18mos.from now on since we won't hve her until about Oct. she can always grow into them. I know my mom will love that she likes to wear head things and I'm sure she will buy her lots of hats. Her outfit in the photo is similar to one that I sent her but it's pink . Looks like she is really into music too. We are still waiting on medical information as we have not heard anything except minimal exam done at 6months.
